Getting a horse to take its medication isn't so easy. Some horses are so fussy that they’ll jerk their head away from you as soon as they sense you are approaching with the medication. They are so intuitive; a horse can sense your apprehension and approach, so much so it is futile in trying to hide the fact of what you are about to administer. Fortunately, granulated medications, i.e Abler equine omeprazole and dewormers, are so easy to administer, even that fussy eater won’t even notice that the medication has been added to their feed.
For even those fussier horses an alternative option is to add a favourite treat to the feed. Why not spice it up and create your own special horse treat recipe at home in your kitchen? Get everyone involved in putting together a list of your horse's favourite things they like to eat and come up with your own special treat they will truly love and look forward to eating come feed and medication time.
So, if you have a horse that’s so smart and says they can spot the tiny granules in feed, try some of these horse treat recipes.

Have all these ingredients mixed together. Serve to your horse - you will have one happy horse!
- 1 Apple

Slice up the apple and carrot into pieces
Make a slit in the banana with or without its peel; pry the slit open just a wee bit. Then take a spoonful of carrot and apple mixture and fill the slit on the banana.
